Economic Development

Controlling costs is essential for success in today's competitive business environment. As a service-driven cooperative, CuivreRiver can be a powerful partner in helping a business control, and sometimes reduce, its operating expenses. When it  comes to controlling operating costs, the CREC philosophy comes through with great savings for most companies.

CREC's commercial and industrial rates have remained both low and stable since 1986. Customized rates are available for businesses requiring demand power exceeding 500 kW and having a yearly load factor greater than 60%. These efforts help secure low energy rates for business, industry, agriculture and residential consumers while providing economic opportunities for local residents.

The Cooperative works to help develop many commercial and industrial areas of its service territory including sites in LakeSaint Louis, Moscow Mills, O'Fallon, Wentzville and Weldon Spring. In WrightCity, CREC owns Gateway West Industrial Centre, a 70-acre development zoned for heavy industrial use.

Gateway West Industrial Centre

Gateway West Industrial Centre is a 70-acre development in Wright City, Missouri, population 1,532. Located on the I-70 south service road, it is easily accessible from either the Foristell or WrightCity interchange, 40 miles west of the St. LouisInternationalAirport.

Gateway is owned and developed by Cuivre River Electric Service Company (CRESCO), a subsidiary of Cuivre River Electric Cooperative (CREC).

The largest of Missouri's electric distribution cooperatives, CREC serves more than 50,000 residential, commercial and industrial member-customers in Warren, St. Charles, Lincoln and PikeCounties.

Electric, municipal water and sewer services, telephone and natural gas are at each site, with rail service nearby. Fully developed pad-ready sites range in size from 2.5 to 10 acres.

Gateway West is located near two major electric substations supplied by 161kV transmission lines. Three-phase underground electrical service is available throughout the development.

Wright City

Wright City, Missouri, is located along Interstate 70, about 45 miles west of St. Louis. As part of the westernmost portion of the St. Louis Metropolitan Economic area, Wright City not only provides a country setting for housing, but a potential for economic growth that is attractive for those businesses seeking to cater to the needs of a residential community and facilities for light to heavy industrial businesses.

Primarily single-family, with some multi-family housing, WrightCity provides a peaceful, semi-rural area in which to live, yet is within an easy drive for the major sporting and cultural events of the St. Louis Area.

CREC Advantages

We Help You Control Costs

Controlling costs is essential for success in today's competitive business environment. As a service-driven cooperative, Cuivre River Electric Cooperative can be a powerful partner in helping a business control, and sometimes reduce, its operating expenses. CuivreRiver's sole purpose is to provide reliable electric service at a reasonable cost, not provide profit for stockholders.

You Have A Voice

Because CuivreRiver is a cooperative, the people who buy electricity are owners, and have a voice in how CuivreRiver conducts business. They elect a Board of Directors, the Cooperative's governing body.

You Have Ownership Equity

A final advantage is ownership equity, known as Capital Credits. Member-owners share in capital remaining at the end of the year. Capital is divided among members, based on the amount and cost of electricity used.
